Thongsom wins Indonesian Junior Championship

Hills Academy student, Bright Thongsom (Thailand), who is currently in year 11 at Hills College, played brilliantly at Surabaya, Indonesia to win the Indonesian Junior Championship. Bright shot rounds of 68, 69, 72, 70 for a 72 hole total of 279 (-9) to win the tournament by 10 shots.

It was a wire to wire performance and Bright learned a lot about how to “sleep” on the lead and cont

inue to perform well. Bright also had the low round every day for the boys except on day 3 where he lost that day on a countback. Another Hills student, Thiha Myo Set Myanmar) finished 6th with a score of 297. Bright is looking at gaining a US College scholarship after graduating from Hills in 2019.

This performance as well as his top 10 finish at the Australian Junior earlier in the year will help the US College coaches pay attention to this very special talent.
